OCEANS 2025 Local Organizing Committee Welcomes You
Welcome to Chicago and the glorious Great Lakes, our Freshwater Ocean! This week promises to be the ocean technology event of the year – with pizza, hot dogs, and world-class architecture.

The conference theme this year is New Horizons in Blue Tech: Bridging Knowledge and Innovation, as the Great Lakes region serves as a bridge for two nations to the sea, we look forward to hosting our community to discuss how to bridge the most recent knowledge gained into potential innovations we can collectively seek.
OCEANS 2025 will highlight a bevy of topics including entrepreneurship for the blue economy, coastal resiliency, spill response, cold climate ecosystem observations, Indigenous observing in the Great Lakes, and more.
OCEANS 2025 will offer a high-traffic exhibit hall in the historic Navy Pier, feature compelling speakers, a suite of technical sessions, lively plenaries and town halls, and in-water technical demonstrations steps away from the exhibit hall!
Integrated into the Technical Program will be several complementary efforts including: Smart Ships Coalition – changing the state of autonomous technologies and operations in marine applications; and Lakebed 2030 – focused on high-resolution mapping data in the Great Lakes and its application to research, policy-making and industrial applications.
We hope you will join us for OCEANS 2025 to share marine technology advances, learn about exciting projects and programs, and build new productive partnerships – all in your kind of town – Chicago!
Sincerely,
Your “Unsalted” General Co-Chairs
Steve Ruberg Tim Havens
